Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Echinaforce Junior is a chewable, orange-flavored tablet formulation of **fresh Echinacea purpurea extract** (95% aerial parts, 5% root) developed and marketed specifically for immune support in children, especially for the **prevention and treatment of respiratory tract infections (RTIs) including colds and flu**. Its mechanism involves antibacterial (inhibition of bacterial receptors, reduction of bacterial-induced inflammation), antiviral (direct action and inhibition of viral entry and propagation), and anti-inflammatory effects (cytokine inhibition), as well as immune system modulation, notably via cannabinoid type 2 receptors within the immune system. Echinaforce Junior has been clinically shown to reduce the risk, duration, and severity of RTIs in children, and decrease the incidence of complications such as sinusitis, otitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia, and was shown to reduce the need for antibiotics and days with fever. The product uses a standardized fresh extract of Echinacea purpurea herba and radix, and is supported by multiple clinical studies for safety and efficacy in children aged 2–12 years[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
