Echinatin is a bioactive retrochalcone primarily isolated from the roots of *Glycyrrhiza inflata* (licorice), a plant widely used in traditional medicine. It is recognized for its significant anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and hepatoprotective properties. Mechanistically, echinatin exerts its effects by inhibiting the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, which leads to a reduction in the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators such as TNF-α and IL-6. Additionally, it has been shown to activate the Nrf2/ARE pathway, enhancing the cellular antioxidant defense system and protecting against oxidative stress-induced damage. While echinatin is a key component of herbal extracts and is widely used in pharmacological research, it has not been developed as a standalone pharmaceutical drug and is primarily available as a nutraceutical component or a laboratory reference standard.
