EchiTAb+ ICP is a lyophilized polyvalent antivenom developed by the Instituto Clodomiro Picado (ICP) for the treatment of snakebite envenomation caused by medically important sub-Saharan African snake species. It is a biologic product consisting of horse-derived polyclonal antibodies (IgG) produced by immunizing horses with a mixture of venoms from seven key species: *Echis ocellatus* (West African carpet viper), *Bitis arietans* (puff adder), *Naja nigricollis* (black-necked spitting cobra), *Naja mossambica* (Mozambique spitting cobra), *Naja annulifera* (snouted cobra), *Dendroaspis polylepis* (black mamba), and *Hemachatus haemachatus* (rinkhals). The antivenom works by binding to and neutralizing a wide array of venom toxins, including metalloproteinases, phospholipases A2, and both post-synaptic and pre-synaptic neurotoxins, thereby preventing their interaction with physiological targets and mitigating the hemotoxic and neurotoxic effects of envenomation.
