EchiTAb G is a monospecific, ovine-derived immunoglobulin G (IgG) antivenom developed to treat systemic envenoming caused by the saw-scaled or carpet viper (*Echis ocellatus*), which is responsible for the majority of snakebite-related deaths in Nigeria and the West African savannah. Developed under a collaboration between the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Health and the EchiTAb Study Group, and manufactured by MicroPharm Ltd in Wales, UK, EchiTAb G consists of caprylic acid-purified whole IgG antibodies raised in sheep against *E. ocellatus* venom. It works by neutralizing the lethal, hemorrhagic, and coagulopathic toxins of the venom, thereby restoring blood coagulability in patients suffering from venom-induced consumption coagulopathy. In a Phase II/III clinical trial in Nigeria, EchiTAb G demonstrated a 75.7% rate of permanent restoration of blood coagulability within 6 hours of administration.
