Overview

Echium amoenum extract is a botanical product derived from the dried flowers of *Echium amoenum*, a medicinal plant native to Iran. The extract contains active phenolic compounds, including rosmarinic acid and anthocyanins such as cyanidin-3-glucoside and delphinidin. It exerts therapeutic effects through multiple mechanisms, including antioxidant activity, inhibition of acetylcholinesterase, and anti-inflammatory actions via the suppression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Clinical research has investigated its efficacy in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and mild to moderate depression, while preclinical models suggest potential benefits in Alzheimer's disease and pain management.
