Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ELIAS Cancer Immunotherapy (ECI®) is a personalized, combination immunotherapy developed by ELIAS Animal Health for the treatment of various canine cancers. The therapy utilizes a two-step approach: first, an autologous whole-cell vaccine is created from the patient's own surgically removed tumor and administered intradermally to prime the immune system to recognize unique tumor-associated antigens. Second, T-cells are harvested from the patient via apheresis, activated and expanded *ex vivo* to create a large population of 'killer' T-cells, and then re-infused intravenously as an adoptive T-cell therapy. This dual mechanism aims to generate a robust, targeted immune response against the patient's specific cancer cells. In March 2025, ECI® became the first autologous prescription product to receive full approval from the USDA Center for Veterinary Biologics (USDA-CVB) for the treatment of canine osteosarcoma.
