ECI-101

ECI-101 is a novel platelet-rich plasma-derived growth factor eye drop developed by ECI Therapeutics. It is formulated to provide accelerated healing of persistent epithelial defects on the eye, specifically targeting conditions such as dry eye disease and corneal abrasions. The product contains a standard concentration of growth factors derived from platelet-rich plasma, which closely mimics the biochemical characteristics of natural human tears—including proteins, electrolytes, antimicrobial compounds, pH, osmolality, vitamins, fibronectin, and various growth factors. These drops have demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting inflammatory cytokines and increasing goblet cell numbers and mucin expression in the conjunctiva. The mechanism involves enhancing corneal epithelial care and supporting ocular surface health through allogeneic growth factor concentrates[1].
