Ecleralimab is an inhaled antibody fragment (Fab) that targets and inhibits thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), a key upstream cytokine involved in driving allergic inflammatory responses. Developed as a dry powder for inhalation, ecleralimab was designed to attenuate allergen-induced bronchoconstriction and airway inflammation in asthma by neutralizing TSLP locally in the lungs. Clinical studies demonstrated that ecleralimab significantly reduced late asthmatic response (LAR), sputum eosinophils, and fractional exhaled nitric oxide levels in subjects with mild atopic asthma. The drug was well tolerated with a favorable safety profile. Ecleralimab was developed by Novartis, originating from MorphoSys, but its development for asthma has been discontinued. It reached phase II clinical trials for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)[1][2][4][5][6].
