Overview
Ecnoglutide is a novel, long-acting, cAMP signaling-biased glucagon-like peptide‑1 (GLP‑1) receptor agonist developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. It consists only of natural amino acids, which simplifies manufacturing. Ecnoglutide acts by selectively activating the GLP‑1 receptor to stimulate insulin secretion, improve glycemic control, slow gastric emptying, and promote satiety and weight loss. In clinical trials—including Phase 3 studies in China—it has demonstrated robust efficacy in reducing HbA1c and body weight with a safety profile consistent with other GLP‑1 receptor agonists. The drug was discovered and developed by Sciwind Biosciences; it has been licensed to Verdiva Bio for territories outside greater China and South Korea[4][5][6][7].
