Ecologic 825

Ecologic 825 is a multispecies probiotic mixture developed by Winclove Probiotics, specifically formulated to support intestinal barrier function and restore gut microbiota homeostasis. In the clinical trial "Reconstituting the microbiome after pneumonia" (RECONSTITUTE), conducted by the Academisch Medisch Centrum, Ecologic 825 is being investigated for its ability to reconstitute the gut microbiome in patients hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) who have received antibiotic treatment. The mixture contains nine distinct probiotic strains: *Bifidobacterium bifidum* W23, *Bifidobacterium lactis* W51, *Bifidobacterium lactis* W52, *Lactobacillus acidophilus* W22, *Lactobacillus casei* W20, *Lactobacillus paracasei* W20, *Lactobacillus plantarum* W21, *Lactobacillus salivarius* W24, and *Lactococcus lactis* W19. Its therapeutic effect is mediated through the restoration of microbial diversity, enhancement of the intestinal mucosal barrier, and modulation of the systemic immune response, aiming to mitigate the long-term adverse effects of antibiotic-induced dysbiosis.
