Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ecomer is a natural dietary supplement and over-the-counter (OTC) preparation containing shark liver oil, which is standardized for its content of alkylglycerols. Originally developed in Sweden by Natumin Pharma (formerly Hälsoprodukter) and marketed in Poland by Zakład Farmaceutyczny AMARA, Ecomer is primarily used to support and strengthen the immune system. Alkylglycerols, which are also naturally found in human breast milk and bone marrow, stimulate hematopoiesis, enhance the production of white blood cells and antibodies, and promote phagocytosis. Ecomer has also been studied for its potential to reduce the side effects of radiation therapy and to assist in the detoxification of heavy metals such as mercury.
