Overview

Ecorex is a topical antifungal medication containing econazole nitrate, developed and marketed by Hayat Pharmaceutical. As an imidazole antifungal agent, it works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes, by targeting the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability and eventual cell death. Ecorex is primarily indicated for the treatment of various dermatomycoses, including tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea corporis (ringworm), and cutaneous candidiasis.
