Ecoporc Shiga

Ecoporc Shiga is a veterinary recombinant toxoid vaccine for piglets that contains a genetically modified recombinant Shiga toxin 2e (Stx2e) antigen from Escherichia coli, formulated with aluminum hydroxide adjuvant, to induce neutralizing antibodies against Stx2e, the key virulence factor causing edema disease in weaned pigs.[1][8][12] By stimulating active immunity against Stx2e, the vaccine reduces clinical signs, mortality, and negative effects on growth associated with Shiga toxin–producing E. coli infections, and has been shown in field studies to lower disease expression and improve average daily weight gain while supporting reduced antibiotic use on affected farms.[2][5][8] The product was originally developed by IDT Biologika and is now marketed globally by Ceva Santé Animale and regional partners such as Meiji Seika Pharma, with authorizations in the EU, Great Britain, Japan, Korea, and other swine-producing countries for active immunisation of piglets from 4 days of age against edema disease.[1][2][6][10][11]
