Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EcoShield PX is a bacteriophage-based food safety biologic developed by Intralytix, Inc. It consists of a cocktail of naturally occurring lytic bacteriophages that specifically target and kill Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), including E. coli O157:H7 and the 'big six' serogroups (O26, O45, O103, O111, O121, and O145). The product is applied topically as a spray or wash to various food surfaces, such as red meat, poultry, dairy, and produce, to eliminate or significantly reduce bacterial contamination and prevent foodborne illness. EcoShield PX has received FDA Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) status (GRN 000834) and Food Contact Notification (FCN No. 1018) for use as a processing aid in food production.
