Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ECP Colon Prep Kit (also known as EC Prep) is an investigational bowel cleansing system developed by Sebela Pharmaceuticals and ColonaryConcepts for patients undergoing colonoscopy. Unlike traditional high-volume liquid bowel preparations, this kit consists of nutritionally balanced, palatable bars and flavored beverages that the patient consumes over a 24-hour period. The active ingredient is polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG 3350), an osmotic laxative that works by drawing water into the gastrointestinal tract to facilitate colon cleansing. The kit also includes electrolytes to maintain fluid and mineral balance. This unique formulation is designed to improve patient compliance and satisfaction by providing a more tolerable alternative to liquid-only solutions. It has been evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT03332485) and is being developed via the FDA's 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway.
