Ecuadorian Sativa

Ecuadorian Sativa (also known as CTA or CTS-A) is a patented cannabis strain (U.S. Plant Patent PP27,475) developed by Cannabis Sativa, Inc. It is a hybrid cross between 'Celestial Temple Sativa' (Cannabis sativa ssp. sativa) and 'Island Sweet Skunk' (Cannabis sativa ssp. indica). The strain is characterized by an exceptionally high concentration of the terpene limonene (45.35 mg/g) and the presence of cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). It was specifically bred to provide hypotensive (blood pressure lowering) effects and energizing, motivating psychoactive properties, distinguishing it from more sedative cannabis varieties. Beyond its primary intended use for hypertension and general health maintenance, research has identified CBGA within the strain as a potential agent for blocking SARS-CoV-2 viral entry by binding to the spike protein. The strain is reproduced asexually through cloning and represents the first plant patent issued by the USPTO for a cannabis strain.
