EDC ConM SOSIP is a chemically cross-linked HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein trimer immunogen used in experimental HIV vaccine development. It is created by applying a SOSIP (SOluble, Stabilized, cleaved, gp140 trImeric Protein) design to a consensus HIV-1 envelope protein (ConM) and then stabilizing it through chemical cross-linking using 1-Ethyl-3-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-Carbodiimide (EDC). This cross-linking process enhances trimer stability while maintaining protein folding with minimal structural distortion. The immunogen is designed to induce neutralizing antibodies against HIV-1 by presenting a stabilized, native-like envelope structure.
