EDEVEN C.M.

EDEVEN C.M. is a topical gel formulation developed by IBI-Lorenzini (Istituto Biochimico Italiano Giovanni Lorenzini S.p.A.) for the treatment of minor trauma, blunt injuries, and localized swelling (oedema). It is a combination product containing two active small molecule ingredients: aescin (also known as escin) and diethylamine salicylate. Aescin is a triterpene saponin derived from horse chestnut (*Aesculus hippocastanum*) that exhibits anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictive, and anti-oedematous properties by reducing capillary permeability and improving venous tone. Diethylamine salicylate is a salicylic acid derivative that acts as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes and reducing the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. The 'C.M.' designation (Composizione Modificata) indicates that this formulation is a modification of an earlier version that contained sodium heparin, which has been removed. It is approved in Italy as an over-the-counter medication for sports-related injuries and impact trauma to the extremities.
