Edevexin

Edevexin is an approved anti-oedema and vasoprotective medication developed and marketed by IBI-Lorenzini (Istituto Biochimico Italiano G. Lorenzini S.p.A.). Its active ingredient, aescin sodium, is a small molecule triterpene saponin mixture extracted from the seeds of the horse chestnut tree (*Aesculus hippocastanum*). The drug exerts its therapeutic effects by reducing capillary hyperpermeability, increasing venous tone, and providing anti-inflammatory and anti-exudative properties. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of various types of oedema (edema), including post-traumatic and post-operative swelling. Edevexin is available in multiple formulations, including film-coated tablets for oral administration and a powder for solution for infusion for intravenous use.
