EDG-7500 is a novel, oral, selective cardiac sarcomere modulator developed to address impaired cardiac relaxation associated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and other diseases of diastolic dysfunction. Unlike conventional negative inotropes, EDG-7500 slows early contraction velocity and decreases diastolic tension by regulating—but not inhibiting—cardiac myosin activity. This mechanism aims to improve left ventricular compliance and filling without significantly impacting systolic function or reducing maximal force generation. Clinical studies have shown that EDG-7500 can reduce left ventricular outflow tract gradients and NT-proBNP levels while improving functional status in patients with both obstructive and nonobstructive HCM[1][2][4][5].
