EDI-M406 is a preclinical circular RNA (circRNA) therapeutic being developed by the Empire Discovery Institute for the treatment of Hemophilia A. The drug utilizes the proprietary StitchR CircRNA platform to deliver circular RNA encoding coagulation Factor VIII (FVIII), encapsulated within lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for systemic delivery. Circular RNA offers potential advantages over traditional linear mRNA, including significantly increased stability and resistance to exonuclease-mediated degradation, which may lead to more durable and sustained endogenous production of Factor VIII. By enabling the patient's own cellular machinery to synthesize the missing clotting factor, EDI-M406 aims to provide a long-acting enzyme replacement effect to restore hemostasis and prevent bleeding episodes in individuals with Hemophilia A.
