EDO-B776 is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) being developed by Mundipharma EDO GmbH in collaboration with Purdue Pharma L.P., primarily for the treatment of ovarian cancer. The drug targets a specific cell-associated fragment of cancer antigen 125 (CA125), also known as Mucin-16 (MUC16), which remains on the surface of cancer cells after the extracellular portion is shed. This targeting strategy is designed to avoid the 'decoy' effect of circulating CA125, which can sequester antibodies and reduce therapeutic efficacy. Upon binding to the cell-surface antigen, EDO-B776 is internalized, releasing a cytotoxic payload to induce cell death. Preclinical data has shown that the agent can delay tumor growth and may act synergistically with chemotherapy agents like paclitaxel.
