Overview

Edotreotide (DOTA-TOC) is an 8-amino acid peptide bound to the chelator 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid (DOTA). It functions as a somatostatin receptor targeting agent with highest affinity for subtype 2 receptors (sstr2). When labeled with different radioisotopes, it serves various clinical purposes: with gallium-68 for diagnostic PET imaging of neuroendocrine tumors, with yttrium-90 or lutetium-177 for peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT), and experimentally with bismuth-213 or terbium-161 for enhanced therapeutic effects.
