Overview

EDP-323 is an investigational, first-in-class, once-daily oral small molecule antiviral developed by Enanta Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections. It acts as a non-nucleoside inhibitor targeting the RSV L-protein, which is essential for viral replication. Preclinical studies have shown that EDP-323 exhibits potent inhibition of RSV replication with sub-nanomolar to picomolar potency against both RSV-A and RSV-B strains in vitro and demonstrates dose-dependent reductions in viral load and lung inflammation in animal models. The drug has favorable oral bioavailability and pharmacokinetics supporting once-daily dosing. EDP-323 has received FDA Fast Track designation due to its potential as a best-in-class direct antiviral therapy for high-risk populations affected by RSV[1][2][5][6][7][8].
