EDP-514

EDP-514 is a novel, orally administered small molecule that acts as a potent core protein inhibitor of hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication. It belongs to the class of HBV core inhibitors, also known as capsid assembly modulators or core protein allosteric modulators. These agents disrupt the assembly and replication of HBV by targeting the viral core protein at multiple steps in the viral life cycle, including inhibition of new covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) formation when given early during infection. EDP-514 has demonstrated strong antiviral activity in preclinical animal models and clinical studies, showing significant reductions in both HBV DNA and RNA levels in patients with chronic hepatitis B.
