EDS01

EDS01 is a gene therapy agent consisting of a replication-deficient recombinant adenovirus type 5 (Ad5) vector engineered to carry and express the human endostatin gene. Endostatin is a 20-kDa C-terminal fragment of collagen XVIII and serves as a potent endogenous inhibitor of angiogenesis. Upon administration, the viral vector delivers the endostatin gene to host cells, which then produce and secrete the endostatin protein locally. This protein exerts its anti-tumor effects by inhibiting endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and tube formation, thereby suppressing the formation of new blood vessels (neovascularization) required for tumor growth and metastasis. EDS01 has been primarily investigated in China, particularly for the treatment of advanced head and neck malignant tumors and other solid cancers, often in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy regimens to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
