Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**EDTA-HSA-El-Ab** is an investigational, elastin-targeted nanoparticle chelation therapy for vascular calcification. It consists of human serum albumin nanoparticles loaded with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and conjugated to an anti-elastin antibody that preferentially recognizes damaged elastin within calcified arterial tissue. Following intravenous administration, the targeting antibody localizes the particles to degraded elastic lamellae and EDTA chelates calcium from pathological mineral deposits. In rat chronic kidney disease-associated medial arterial calcification and ex vivo human femoral artery studies, the construct reduced arterial calcium burden and suppressed osteogenic markers including BMP2 and RUNX2. It remains a preclinical research-stage therapeutic approach. ([cdt.amegroups.org](https://cdt.amegroups.org/article/view/128007/html))
