The edwardsiellosis vaccine is an inactivated bacterial vaccine being developed by Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) in collaboration with the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE). It is specifically designed to protect freshwater fish against edwardsiellosis, a severe bacterial disease caused by *Edwardsiella* species, most notably *Edwardsiella tarda*. This disease is a major concern in aquaculture due to high mortality rates and significant economic impact. The vaccine serves as a sustainable alternative to the use of antibiotics and chemicals in fish farming, aiming to mitigate the development of antimicrobial resistance while supporting environmentally friendly aquaculture practices. As of late 2022, the vaccine was reported to be in advanced stages of development as part of India's first commercial fish vaccine initiative.
