Overview

Efb-P is a novel 12-amino-acid-long peptide (dodecapeptide) derived from the second fibrinogen-binding motif of the Staphylococcus aureus extracellular fibrinogen-binding protein (Efb) [PB2549]. It is designed to target P-selectin on platelets, thereby inhibiting the interaction between platelets and leukocytes and preventing the formation of platelet-leukocyte aggregates (PLAs) [PB2549]. Efb-P is being investigated as a potential anti-inflammatory and vasculoprotective treatment for cardiovascular diseases and inflammatory syndromes [PB2549].
