Efbemalenograstim alfa is a long-acting recombinant fusion protein of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) fused to the Fc portion of human IgG2. It is used to decrease the incidence and duration of infection, as manifested by febrile neutropenia, in adults with non-myeloid malignancies receiving myelosuppressive anti-cancer drugs. The drug acts by binding to G-CSF receptors in bone marrow, stimulating progenitor cell differentiation, proliferation, and mobilization of granulocytes (neutrophils), thereby reducing the severity and duration of neutropenia. Its prolonged half-life allows for once-per-cycle administration. Efbemalenograstim alfa was developed as an alternative to other G-CSF agents such as pegfilgrastim and filgrastim[2][5][6][8].
