Efepoetin alfa (GX-E2) is a long-acting recombinant erythropoietin fusion protein developed using Genexine's proprietary hyFc platform technology. It consists of human erythropoietin fused to the Fc region of an antibody to extend its half-life and allow for less frequent dosing. The drug acts as an erythropoiesis stimulant by binding and activating the erythropoietin receptor to promote red blood cell production. Its primary indication is the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including in patients on dialysis and those not on dialysis. Efepoetin alfa has been co-developed by Genexine and Green Cross (now CG Biopharma), with additional development partnerships for commercialization in China through Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical subsidiaries[1][3][6][7].
