Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Effaclar is a brand of dermatological skincare products developed by La Roche-Posay (a division of L'Oréal) specifically for oily and acne-prone skin. The product line includes various formulations, most notably Effaclar Duo (marketed as Effaclar Duo+ in some regions), which is an FDA-approved over-the-counter (OTC) acne treatment in the United States. The US formulation typically contains 5.5% micronized benzoyl peroxide and 0.4% lipo-hydroxy acid (LHA), while global versions often feature a combination of salicylic acid, LHA, niacinamide, and zinc PCA. These active ingredients work synergistically to provide antimicrobial action against *Cutibacterium acnes*, keratolytic effects to clear clogged pores, and anti-inflammatory benefits to reduce redness and swelling associated with acne vulgaris.
