Overview
Efgartigimod alfa is a neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) blocker that works by binding to FcRn, preventing it from recycling immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies. This mechanism reduces circulating IgG levels, including the harmful autoantibodies present in myasthenia gravis that target acetylcholine receptors. By reducing these autoantibodies, efgartigimod alfa helps improve neuromuscular transmission and muscle function in patients with generalized myasthenia gravis.
