Overview
Efizonerimod alfa is an agonistic monoclonal antibody and fusion protein that targets and activates the OX40 receptor (also known as CD134), a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. By mimicking the action of endogenous OX40 ligand (OX40L), it stimulates OX40 signaling, which can enhance T-cell mediated immune responses against tumors. Efizonerimod alfa was developed for use in cancer immunotherapy, particularly for solid tumors. The drug was originally developed by AgonOx and Providence Cancer Center, with further development by MedImmune (a subsidiary of AstraZeneca). Clinical development reached phase 1 trials in patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumors but has since been discontinued for this indication[1][3][7].
