Overview

F-652 (eflepedocokin alfa) is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of two human interleukin-22 (IL-22) molecules linked to an immunoglobulin G2 fragment crystallizable (IgG2 Fc). It is designed to harness the natural epithelial cell growth-promoting and tissue repair activities of IL-22, which also plays a role in suppressing bacterial infection. The drug acts as an anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective agent by promoting tissue regeneration and modulating inflammatory responses. F-652 is being developed primarily for the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as alcoholic hepatitis, acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), and COVID-19 infections. Clinical studies have shown that it improves liver function scores, reduces markers of inflammation, increases markers of regeneration, and has a favorable safety profile in both healthy volunteers and patients with moderate to severe alcoholic hepatitis[1][3][4][5][6].
