Eflimrufusp alfa (RC28-E) is a recombinant fusion protein biologic developed by RemeGen Co., Ltd. It is designed as a dual-targeting decoy receptor trap that simultaneously inhibits Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 (FGF2). By blocking both pathways, it aims to address the complex pathophysiology of retinal vascular diseases more effectively than traditional anti-VEGF monotherapies. The drug is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for various ophthalmic conditions, including nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR), wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD), and diabetic macular edema (DME). It is administered via intravitreal injection to directly target the ocular environment.
