Overview

A combination therapy consisting of eflornithine (an irreversible ornithine decarboxylase inhibitor) and interferon alpha-2a (a recombinant interferon). This combination was studied for the treatment of recurrent glioma based on in vitro evidence suggesting synergistic effects between the two agents. Eflornithine works by irreversibly binding to ornithine decarboxylase, reducing cellular polyamine levels, while interferon alpha-2a helps the immune system fight infections and has potential anti-tumor properties.
