Overview

Efpegsomatropin (HM10560A) is a long-acting recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) designed for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency. It is produced in Escherichia coli as a nonglycosylated protein and consists of somatropin chemically conjugated to the N-terminus of a recombinant immunoglobulin G4 Fc fragment dimer via a polyethylene glycol derivative linker. This modification extends its half-life compared to daily rhGH formulations, allowing for less frequent dosing. The drug acts as an agonist at the growth hormone receptor (GHR), stimulating physiological effects similar to endogenous GH. Efpegsomatropin has been developed primarily by Hanmi Pharmaceutical for use in adult and pediatric patients with growth hormone deficiency[1][2][3][4][5].
