Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EG013 is an investigational adenoviral VEGF-D gene therapy program being developed to improve uteroplacental blood flow in pregnancies complicated by fetal/foetal growth restriction, with the goal of restoring adequate maternal blood supply to the placenta and improving fetal growth outcomes.[1][5][6] It utilizes Ark Therapeutics’ adenoviral gene therapy platform to deliver vascular endothelial growth factor D (VEGF-D) variants locally, enhancing angiogenesis and placental vascularization in preclinical models of impaired placental blood flow.[1][5][6] The program has been pursued by Ark Therapeutics and later Trizell as part of a broader VEGF gene therapy research effort, but available information indicates it remains at a preclinical or very early clinical development stage.[1][5][6]
