Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EG017 ointment placebo is a pharmacologically inactive control formulation used in clinical trials to evaluate the efficacy and safety of EG017 ointment. EG017 itself is a non-steroidal androgen receptor agonist developed by Changchun GeneScience Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (GenSci) for the treatment of dry eye disease. The placebo is formulated as an ointment and is applied topically to the skin side of the eyelids, typically once nightly at bedtime, to match the administration route and physical characteristics of the active drug candidate. It is currently being utilized in Phase II multicenter, randomized, double-blind studies, specifically focusing on postmenopausal women with dry eye disease to facilitate a controlled comparison of therapeutic outcomes.
