Overview

EG1206L (formerly DCB-103) is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody developed as a biosimilar to rituximab. It specifically targets the CD20 antigen, a transmembrane phosphoprotein found on the surface of mature B-lymphocytes. Upon binding to CD20, EG1206L triggers B-cell depletion through multiple immunological pathways, including antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), and the induction of direct apoptosis. Originally developed by the Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB) in Taiwan, the candidate was subsequently licensed to EirGenix for further clinical development. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of B-cell-related conditions, including non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and rheumatoid arthritis, aiming to provide a more cost-effective therapeutic alternative to the reference product, Rituxan/MabThera.
