Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**egen-001 + folfox** is an investigational combination therapy, composed of EGEN-001—a gene therapy agent—and FOLFOX, a chemotherapy regimen. - **EGEN-001** is a plasmid DNA therapy encoding interleukin-12 (IL-12), delivered via a synthetic polymer-based formulation. IL-12 stimulates immune responses against tumors by enhancing T-cell and natural killer cell activity. - **FOLFOX** consists of three pharmaceutical agents: folinic acid (leucovorin), fluorouracil (5-FU), and oxaliplatin. FOLFOX kills rapidly dividing cancer cells by interfering with DNA synthesis and function. - This combination has been explored primarily in advanced or recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer and other solid tumors, aiming to leverage both cytotoxic and immunostimulatory mechanisms for synergistic antitumor effects.
