EGFR FPBMC is an autologous cell therapy consisting of fresh peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) that have been armed ex vivo with a bispecific antibody (EGFRBi) targeting both CD3 on T cells and the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) on tumor cells. Developed at the University of Virginia, this therapeutic approach aims to redirect the cytotoxic activity of a patient's own T cells toward EGFR-expressing cancer cells, such as those found in metastatic or unresectable pancreatic cancer. The bispecific antibody acts as a molecular bridge, facilitating T-cell activation and targeted tumor cell lysis without the need for genetic modification of the immune cells. The treatment typically involves collecting PBMCs via leukapheresis, arming them with the bispecific antibody, and re-infusing them into the patient.
