Overview

EGFR-targeted EDV nanocells are a novel cancer therapeutic platform developed by EnGeneIC Cancer Therapeutics. These nanocells, also known as EnGeneIC Dream Vectors (EDVs), are derived from non-pathogenic *Salmonella* bacteria and are engineered to deliver therapeutic payloads directly to tumor cells. The targeting mechanism utilizes bispecific antibodies that bind to the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on the nanocell surface and the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) on the cancer cell. Upon binding, the nanocells are internalized via endocytosis, releasing their payload (such as cytotoxic drugs or RNA interference molecules) while simultaneously triggering a potent anti-tumor innate and adaptive immune response. This specific iteration is being evaluated for the treatment of late-stage ovarian cancers and other EGFR-expressing solid tumors.
