EGFRvIII autochimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy is a type of adoptive cell therapy that utilizes a patient's own T cells, which are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR). This CAR is designed to specifically recognize the epidermal growth factor receptor variant III (EGFRvIII) mutation, a tumor-specific antigen frequently found in glioblastoma but absent in normal, healthy tissues. The therapy aims to minimize on-target, off-tumor toxicities by selectively targeting cancer cells expressing EGFRvIII. Upon reinfusion into the patient, these modified T cells are intended to identify and eliminate tumor cells, offering a targeted immunotherapeutic approach for certain cancers.
