The egg-derived split-virus seasonal influenza vaccine is a licensed, commercially available biologic used for the active immunization against seasonal influenza. Produced using traditional embryonated chicken egg-based manufacturing technology, the vaccine consists of purified, inactivated, split influenza virus antigens, primarily hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). It is designed to stimulate the human immune system to produce hemagglutination inhibition antibodies against specific influenza A and B strains.
