EH-216 is a preclinical-stage synthetic cannabinoid derivative that was being developed by Emerald Health Therapeutics (EHT). It is a non-psychoactive compound designed to target neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative pathways, specifically for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The drug's mechanism of action involves the activation of Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor gamma (PPARγ) and Cannabinoid Receptor 2 (CB2), which are known to modulate immune responses and provide neuroprotection. EH-216 was part of EHT's pharmaceutical pipeline, which the company intended to advance following its pivot from the cannabis production industry. However, development was halted after a proposed merger with Skye Bioscience was terminated in late 2022, leading to EHT's subsequent liquidation and the discontinuation of its research programs.
