EHP-102 is a patented synthetic aminoquinone derivative of cannabigerol (CBG), a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. It is being developed as an oral small molecule drug for neurodegenerative diseases, primarily Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease. The drug acts as both a cannabinoid receptor CB2 agonist and a peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha (PPARα) modulator, providing neuroprotection in models of neuroinflammatory diseases and enhancing neurogenesis in the brain's subventricular zone[2][3][5]. Preclinical studies have shown that EHP-102 reduces inflammation-driven neuronal deterioration, attenuates neuronal death, restores dopamine concentrations in the striatum (improving motor performance in Parkinson’s models), and promotes regeneration of nerve cells while protecting against neuroinflammation and degeneration in Huntington's disease models[4][5][6][7]. The compound has received Orphan Drug Designation for Huntington’s disease from both US and EU regulatory agencies[3].
