Overview

EiBeta (also referred to as E.iBeta) is an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived beta cell replacement therapy being co-developed by Evotec and Sernova for the treatment of insulin-dependent diabetes. The therapy utilizes Evotec's proprietary QRbeta initiative to produce scalable, iPSC-derived islet-like clusters that function as a replacement for endogenous beta cells. These clusters are designed to be implanted using Sernova's Cell Pouch, a medical device that creates a vascularized environment to support cell survival and integration. By restoring the body's ability to produce and regulate insulin, EiBeta aims to provide a functional cure for patients with Type 1 Diabetes, potentially eliminating the need for chronic insulin injections.
