eIF4E siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E). eIF4E is a key component of the eIF4F translation initiation complex, which binds to the 5'-cap of mRNAs to facilitate ribosome recruitment and cap-dependent translation. Overexpression of eIF4E is common in many human cancers and is associated with the selective translation of oncogenic proteins involved in cell survival, proliferation, and angiogenesis. By knocking down eIF4E expression, eIF4E siRNA inhibits tumor cell growth, induces G1 cell cycle arrest, promotes apoptosis, and enhances sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. It is primarily utilized as a research reagent to study translational control and target validation in oncology.
